This morning of October, the park warden told Zazie and I the pass was under snow so the trail probably not in good condition. But from our point of view, a snow-covered trail can be an enjoyable trail. The first steps were on the crispy path of a shady conifers forest. Wildlife could distinguish our accent and laugh at us from afar as we were happily discussing in our common second language. Neither the many slippery tiny bridges nor the icy spots discouraged us while at the branching we had to choose between the lake or the pass. As soon as we crossed the tree line the sun welcomed us and the view of the white mountain became magical. As we were gaining altitude the dry trail changed for wet snow, the wet snow for a dry snow and finally the dry snow for a deep fluffy white powder playground.
